One more piece from the NYRB, this one by Michael Chabon, mostly on Finnegan’s Wake. It helped push me over a threshold I had been standing on for some time; I will read Ulysses next. (Finnegan’s Wake, though, I don’t know…). The piece also made me want to give Chabon a second try. I wasn’t much taken with Kavalier & Clay, but this piece is so well wrought, and reminded me enough of David Foster Wallace, that I think I will spend some more time with Chabon…after I finish Ulysses, of course….
