Mark your calendar for the forthcoming City Debates 2016, taking place 2-4 March in the department of Architecture and Design at the American University of Beirut. This year’s title is: “Urban Policy Mobilities and International Aid: Lessons from Regional Planning and Refugee Policies.”
City Debates 2016 features three keynote speakers: Eugene McCann from Simon Fraser University, Susan Parnell from Cape Town University, and Jennifer Hyndman from York University. We also have the pleasure of hosting Patrick Le Gales from Sciences Po Paris as a discussant.
There will be five panels with international scholars, and two policy roundtables on Lebanon discussing regional planning and Syrian refugees, with guests from UN-Habitat, the UNDP, the World Bank, the Norwegian Relief Council, the Council for Development and Reconstruction, the Economic and Social Fund for Development, etc.
There will be an exhibition showcasing design strategies to improve livelihoods of Syrian refugees.
