In the end, he says, companies “stand back watching as a billion people run around like chickens with their heads cut off, responding to each other and feeling indebted to each other.”

This is the second of a series of articles I think get at the critical issue of our everyday choices to use technology, and what those choices mean for democracy.  This piece, a profile of a semi-dissident tech mover and shaker (he’s frankly pretty ridiculous), makes clear that we should not look to Big Technology to solve the problems created by Big Technology (even if it thinks we should).
